LONG-TIME RESIDENT &

VOLUNTEER

As a third generation member of the Ojai Community, I have spent decades supporting education in our valley in its many forms.

From being an active classroom volunteer and serving on the board of the Ojai Valley Library Friends and Foundation to serving on the School Board for the last four years, last year as Board President, I am passionate about shaping education to have a positive impact on our community.

I believe a strong education system benefits the entire community.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a parent of four children who have attended or are attending OUSD schools, I understand first-hand how to support parents, especially during these unprecedented times.

In order to better serve the diverse families in this valley, I have spent the last two years completing a Master of Arts in Education degree with an emphasis in Social Justice and Leadership.

I am committed to continuing to work with the School Board to support equity and inclusive practices, including my role as liaison to the Ojai Alliance for Equity in Education.

EXPERIENCE

As a former preschool teacher and teacher’s aide in special education at Nordhoff, I understand the important role School Board members have in supporting teachers and staff.

I've worked hard, along with our current Board Members, to foster a positive partnership with both of our district's unions: Ojai Federation of Teachers and California Schools Employee Association, voting for one of the most significant staff raises in a decade.

SOLUTION-ORIENTED

LEADERSHIP

At this unprecedented time, we must continue to provide flexible learning options for families, support teachers in creating valuable learning experiences, and create facilities and school culture where kids feel safe and are happily engaged in quality education.
